So close, and yet so far...

The Beast just watches and wonders.
But all is impermanent, and Beauty will one day fade from existence...
Still, the Beast just watches and wonders.
Much time passes, but the Beast remains in the same spot, still watching and still wondering.
The consequences could be disastrous, horrific...
But the Beast doesn't want to go back, so it just stays still.
Nothing happens.
All is quiet.
Beauty just continues to exist as ever, blissfully unaware of the presence of this ghastly creature...
And the Beast just continues to stay still, watching and wondering...
